Jose Joaquin Tejada Revilla (1867–1934) . Cuban painter whose sector the landscape was the most successful .He was born, September 6, 1867. He was a professor and director of the Municipal Academy of Fine Arts, president of the Art Association of the East, member of the Academy of Arts and Letters, and president, animator and leading figure of "l Congress of Art".

 His early interest in painting led him to copy lithographs of his grandfather, Don Joaquin and Mata Tejada, one of the pioneers of Cuban engraving. Very young he obtained a grant from the City of Santiago de Cuba and go to Spain first, to Italy, France and Holland later. Visit the United States, exhibited his paintings in New York, and his work deserves rave reviews, including the famous article dedicated José Martí.

His work was most widespread lottery list, also known as La Confronta, original of which is exhibited in the Emilio Bacardi Moreau Museum in Santiago de Cuba.
The events of the war for independence of Cuba take him to Mexico where three years living in his paintings from this period the influence of the peculiar color of the reflected Aztec lands. On his return to the homeland takes up permanent residence in Santiago de Cuba.
